Log onto www.kolzchut.org.il , click “All Rights” in the upper left-hand corner, and you’ll find yourself on an English page that has many links to information about employment, housing, education, health and much more. Some links take you to a site in Hebrew, where you can use Google Translate to find what you need. Click the “Contact” button to write for further information. There’s even a phone number to call. They may have the answer to your problem or be able to connect you to someone who does.
And Zachary Rothbart, our favorite source of information concerning the Israeli health-care system, has come up with even more resources. He writes:
Ever wondered…
• What’s the deal with free dental care for children?
• What are parents’ rights to sick days from work when their kid is sick?
• Who can or must be present when a minor is undergoing a physical examination?
• What are hospitalized and homebound children entitled to in terms of their education?

And further information about ANY and ALL medical problems – older folks, special needs, long-term problems – can be found at http://shirapranskyproject.org/directory. This directory contains names, descriptions, contact information and more (in English!) for hundreds of healthcare assistance and support organizations in Israel. Whether you need to know how to help the disabled, elderly, or challenged you’ll find help by perusing their site.
This information is provided by AACI’s Shira Pransky Project, Israel’s only initiative solely dedicated to helping English-speakers navigate the healthcare system.
