Senior citizen residents of Ashdod can park at parking meters for free if they have a “Gold Tag” (for the Golden years – get it?). Get a tag to exhibit on your windshield from the Parking Authority at 88 Jabotinsky St. (open Monday thru Thursday from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Sunday and Tuesday also from 4:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.) Bring a copy of your I.D., car registration and driver’s license.
You can also call them at 08-8670310/11 or fax the details to 08-8670320.
BUT there are many more benefits to be had. The Office For Senior Citizens has a service at *8840 or www.vatikim.gov.il that you can contact with questions.
AND there are more benefits that it’s your right to receive if you have your Senior Citizen’s card. Just to give you an idea: many tourist sites give seniors a discount on the entrance fee; many museums charge a senior only half the fee. You need pay only 50% carfare on public transportation – a big savings if you need buses and trains to get around. And if you like the theater you can get discounts on tickets for plays and sometimes at the movies for selected showings. Other countries around the world also give discounts to Seniors. You can get your name put in English on your Senior’s card so that you can use it in other countries to receive
local benefits when you travel. For information about this call 02-6547025 or FAX 02- 6547049.
